PM Modi holds telephone conversation with Rishi Sunak;raises security issue of Indian envoys in UK
PM Modi on April 13 held telephone conversation with UK PM Rishi Sunak. Both leaders reviewed the progress on number of bilateral issues as part of the India-UK Roadmap 2030. The leaders expressed satisfaction on bilateral issues, particularly in trade and economic sectors. PM Modi raised security issue of Indian diplomats in UK, calls for strong action against anti-India elements. PM Sunak conveyed that the UK considers the attack on Indian High Commission totally unacceptable. Meanwhile, UK PM assured PM Modi for the security of the Indian Mission and its personnel. Both leaders agreed on need for early conclusion of a mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement between two countries. PM Modi also raised the issue of economic offenders who have sought refuge in the UK. Notably, PM Modi invited PM Sunak for the G20 Summit to be held in September 2023. PM Sunak reiterates UK’s full support for India’s ongoing G20 Presidency.
