Rape accused Nithyananda’s ‘country’ now seen in the UN?
In what seems to be a 'diplomatic con', representatives of rape-accused self-styled godman Nithyananda's imaginary country, 'Unites States of Kailasa' were spotted at the United Nations. It remains unclear how Nithyananda's associates managed to make it to the UN. Nithyananda, who calls himself "Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism," has claimed on Twitter that United States of KAILASA participated in a discussion on the General Comment on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Sustainable Development at the United Nations in Geneva. Nithyananda has time and again made startling claims to have founded a new 'country'. However, there is no clarity if UN is mulling over recognised rape-accused godman's 'country'. In 2019, the Gujarat Police said that the self-styled godman fled the country. India had said that the passport of Nithyananda was cancelled and a fresh application of the same was denied as he did not get the requisite clearance from police and several criminal cases have been lodged against him. Ministry of External Affairs had sensitised the missions and posts about the self-styled godman wanted in several criminal cases in India. Interpol had also issued a 'blue notice' to locate the fugitive godman on the request of Gujarat Police.
