India bans single-use plastic items, what are the alternatives?
New Delhi: Centre imposed blanket ban on single-use plastic in order to combat air pollution in India. PM Modi gave a clarion call to phase out single-use plastic by 2022. Earlier, the Govt banned plastic bags having a thickness less than 75 microns from Sept 30, 2021. Now, bags with a thickness less than 120 microns will be banned from Dec 31, 2022. Govt will set up a control room to monitor illegal usage of banned single-use plastic items.
