We should get money from Centre if we have to make a new capital: Haryana Home Minister

Chandigarh: Home Minister of Haryana Anil Vij on April 05, while speaking at Haryana Assembly, vowed not to leave Chandigarh until all issues between Punjab and Haryana are resolved. The minister said, “If we make a new capital, then we should get money from the Centre for that. We will not leave Chandigarh till all issues are not resolved single-handedly. Haryana will stand here till we don't get water of Hindi speaking area and SYL, Chandigarh is ours.” Punjab and Haryana have been locked in a dispute over the sharing of the Ravi-Beas waters for decades. While Haryana wants its share, as decided after the re-organisation 50 years ago, successive governments in Punjab have refused to share water. Therefore, the dispute has not been solved since years. Also, the Haryana government passed a resolution during the one-day special session of the state Vidhan Sabha and said that the state wants to continue to retain its right to the Capital Territory of Chandigarh.
