Kanpur (UP): World Sparrow Day is celebrated on March 20. The day is marked to raise awareness on protecting birds. Group of volunteers led by Gaurav Bajpai installed wooden nests across Kanpur to save the birds. He started 'Sweet Sparrow Come Back Home' initiative to provide them habitat. The volunteers took the initiative in 2014 for the safety of avian species. They have installed 7,500 wooden nests so far to protect them from predator birds. “Till now, we have placed around 7500 wooden nests and due to which 70,000-80,000 sparrows have increased in city,” a volunteer told media.
