Historic day for Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on lift of AFSPA from parts of state

Guwahati (Assam): While speaking on the lift of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from some parts of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called it a historic day for the state, and said that the people of Assam, in return of this move, gave two Rajya Sabha seats the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Historic day for Assam, as PM Modi has reduced the areas of AFSPA and in a return gesture, the people of Assam gave us two Rajya Sabha seats. Congress and AIUDF alliance was unholy. We defeated them today and will also defeat them in upcoming GMC polls,” the CM said.
