Taking a jibe at AAP's Gujarat unit head Gopal Italia, Thakur said, "Earlier an Italian woman used to insult Narendra Modi Ji and today there is an Italia who insults Modi Ji's mother. Gujarat did not accept this earlier also and will not do so now. Gujarat will give a befitting reply."The Bharatiya Janata Party is organizing the 'Gujarat Gaurav Yatra' from October 12 to October 20, in five routes. On October 12, BJP National President JP Nadda flagged off two routes, while on October 13, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off three routes. During this yatra, BJP aims to cover 5734 km across Gujarat. The party has already taken out this yatra under the leadership of Narendra Modi in 2002 and before the assembly elections in 2017. This time the Yatra will cover 144 of the 182 assemblies of Gujarat during which more than 145 public meetings will be held. In Malvan's public meeting, Anurag Thakur praised the land of Gujarat for giving great leaders to the country. "The land of Gujarat has done the work of giving leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, and Sardar Patel at the time of the freedom movement. Today the same land has given us our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Ji who led us from the front during the Covid times. It is during his leadership only that India is on the path of becoming Vishwa Guru," Thakur said. Thakur further said, "Before 2001 in Gujarat, there were many incidents of crime, there used to be many riots, after which curfews were imposed but when Modi Ji came in 2001, the riots ended forever and development was the only way forward in Gujarat."The Union Minister also described Gujarat as the model of development for the whole country. "There is a huge wave of BJP in Gujarat and this time we are going to break all the previous records with the blessings of the people here. The BJP leader also appreciated the work of the Modi government in honouring "Hindu symbols". "The work of saving our cultural heritages like Somnath temple, Kedarnath Dham, Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya has only been possible by the BJP government under the leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji," Thakur further said.

Delhi excise policy scam: Manish Sisodia summoned by CBI for questioning

New Delhi : Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday confirmed that he has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and will go to the agency headquarters to meet the officials on Monday. "I will go and fully cooperate with the CBI as it has called me to the headquarters at 11 am tomorrow after raiding my house for 14 hours and searching bank account and even my village where they could not find anything," he said in a tweet in Hindi. In August, the enforcement agencies conducted searches on Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia's official residence besides several other places in connection with the alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi's excise policy. Sisodia, who is in charge of the excise department, has been under the scanner for alleged deliberate and gross procedural lapses which provided undue benefits to the tender process for liquor licensees for the year 2021-22. Sisodia is believed to have executed decisions in violation of the statutory provisions of the Excise Policy, which could have huge financial implications. Such "undue financial favours" to the liquor licensees after the deadline for awarding tenders caused huge losses to the exchequer, sources earlier claimed. The excise policy was passed in chief minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Cabinet in the middle of the deadly Delta Covid-19 pandemic in 2021. Sisodia was among 15 others booked in an FIR filed by the CBI in August including then Excise Commissioner Arva Gopi Krishna, Deputy Commissioner Anand Tiwari and Assistant Commissioner Pankaj Bhatnagar. Other accused are Manoj Rai, a former employee of Pernod Ricard; Amandeep Dhal, director of Brindco Sales; director of Buddy Retail Amit Arora, and Dinesh Arora; authorised signatories of Mahadev Liquors Sunny Marwah, Arun Ramchandra Pillai and Arjun Pandey. The ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the Excise Policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, the licence fee was waived or reduced and the L-1 licence was extended without the competent authority's approval. The beneficiaries diverted "illegal" gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection. As alleged, the Excise Department had decided to refund the Earnest Money Deposit of about Rs 30 crore to a successful tenderer against the set rules. Even though there was no enabling provision, a waiver on tendered licence fees was allowed from December 28, 2021, to January 27, 2022, due to COVID-19. This allegedly caused a loss of Rs 144.36 crore to the exchequer, said the FIR, which has been instituted on a reference from the Union Home Ministry following a recommendation from Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.

Valmiki community lagging behind, has to come forward, says Mohan Bhagwat

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday extended greetings on Valmiki Jayanti and said that the Valmiki community is "lagging behind", noting that the community has to come forward. The RSS chief's remarks came while addressing the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. "Valmiki community is still very weak and is lagging behind. It has to come forward. Babasaheb Ambedkar, while giving the Constitution in Parliament, had said that those who were considered backward till now will not remain backward. Dr Ambedkar had said that now the Dalits would sit with everyone. We made this provision, but merely making the provision will not be enough. The mindset has to be transformed," he said. "He had said that he has provided political and economic freedom by making arrangements... But it will be realized only when social freedom will come and hence the second Dr Saheb worked to bring that spirit from Nagpur from 1925 through Sangh," Bhagwat added. He mentioned that the occasion (Valmiki Jayanti) is important for anybody who wishes to become a "human being"."If you want to learn affinity, read Valmiki Ramayan which mentions the character of Lord Ram. It is a vital and prideful moment for any person who wants to become a better human being," the RSS chief said. "Anybody who has this feeling of affinity and wants to stay united could even sit over a leaf of tamarind," he added quoting a Bengali proverb. Valmiki Jayanti is observed on October 9 every year. The day marks the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki who is credited with writing the original Ramayana during the lifetime of Lord Ram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended greetings on the occasion by tweeting, "Happy Valmiki Jayanti to the countrymen."

AIMIM will contest all seats in future polls in Uttar Pradesh, says party's state chief

Hyderabad (Telangana): Uttar Pradesh AIMIM president Shaukat Ali on Sunday said that the party will contest all the seats in future elections in the state, while also claiming that many leaders of the Samajwadi Party will join the Asaduddin Owaisi-led party in the future. Speaking to ANI, Ali said that the Muslims have always supported "secular forces" to defeat the BJP. "The people are coming towards AIMIM now. We are contesting in East UP, Purwanchal, Central UP and Bundelkhand. Leaders of the Samajwadi Party will join MIM. The 2017 elections were polarised by the BJP through the media. The Muslims thought that the Samajwadi Party could defeat the BJP. Since independence, the Muslims have always supported secular forces to defeat the BJP," he said. Stating that his party chief Owaisi never polarised by speaking on the "Hindu-Muslim issues", Ali said that the party will keep fighting for the community. "Owaisi never spoke about Hindu-Muslim issues. ATMs were blacklisted in Muslim areas, so it became national news. It became a Hindu-Muslim issue. There are hardly any banks in Muslim areas in UP. No schools, no proper hospitals and medicines in these areas. We will keep fighting for all this," Ali said.He also questioned Samajwadi Party's silence on the issues relating to Muslims and said that Akhilesh Yadav is silent when madrasas are surveyed in Uttar Pradesh. "The Samajwadi Party is silent on Muslim issues. Even Akhilesh is silent when our madrasas are surveyed. No Muslim leader in Samajwadi Party, BSP or Congress talks about Muslim welfare. Only Asaduddin Owaisi does," he said. Last month, after the Uttar Pradesh government ordered a survey of Islamic educational institutions or Madrassas in Kanpur, Owaisi alleged that the government is targeting Waqf property which is a "systematic targeting of Muslims". Attacking the Uttar Pradesh government, Owaisi alleged that there is a conspiracy behind madrasas' survey. While addressing the media persons in Hyderabad, he said, "Why are you (UP Govt) conducting a survey of Waqf properties only? Do it for Hindu Endowments Board properties too. I was saying there's a conspiracy behind madrasas' survey. It's coming to the fore. UP govt is violating Article 300 (Right to property)." "If someone has illegally registered govt property as Waqf property, fight it in court, go to Tribunal. UP govt is targeting Waqf property and trying to snatch it away. Such a targeted survey is absolutely wrong. We condemn it. It's systematic targetting of Muslims," he added.

Earlier today, slamming KCR, Congress leader Madhu Yashki called the Chief Minister a "brand ambassador of liquor". KCR had led the Telangana movement playing with sentiments of people and finally succeeded in achieving a separate state for Telangana with the support of BJP. But he deceived people with his hollow promises on every front and now people have determined to throw out TRS government as they have fed up with KCR's false promises. "When KCR has launched the TRS party the situation was different in the state and people of the state have supported TRS and voted it to power with hope and aspirations. But KCR repeatedly deceived people with his empty assurances", Subhash accused. Congress is the only way to a BJP-free country. If KCR wishes it, he should join Congress. However, the Congress does not want any alliance with the TRS party at the state level," he further said.
